Are you a farmer/ land owner in or around Bentham looking to utilise or diversify a piece of unused land?
If so, please do get in touch.
The Bentham Allotment and Community Garden Association need a base for their environmentally friendly, community initiative here in Bentham.
As a previous farm secretary I can assist in any DEFRA or funding applications, whether that be via Entry Level Stewardship or any other government diversification route.
So wondering how to get that space used then please do get in touch with Carolyne on 62512 or by This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Hello, As well as still doing my Coop role,
I’m the new Bentham Volunteering Campaign Development Worker
working towards creating more volunteers to work with you and your charity/community groups.

I am currently collecting data to form a database of the numbers and types of volunteers you may be looking for.
For instance, driver, care worker, gardener etc.
It would help me at this time to discover what your volunteering needs are and then I can gather some form of data baseline to illustrate where we basically stand.
This initial step is simply about ascertaining the need. Please could you get back to me with just a few words of your current requirements. For instance; one cook, two cleaners, three drivers, gardener, carer etc.
Many thanks, Carolyne Lobb.

Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs), Are now accepting commercial waste at all HWRCs, as we previously did prior to their temporary closure in March due to COVID-19, with the exception of Harrogate Stonefall HWRC.

Commercial waste is any waste  from a commercial organisation, a business, a trade, a person’s employment, a landlord, a village hall, an educational establishment or a holiday caravan.

With the impending changes in the lockdown rules,  Pubs reopening and tons of exciting things about to happen.
We are compiling and publishing info about where you can eat and places to stay in Bentham,
At the moment this is a work in progress and will be updated as we go along.
Use the menu item Places to Stay, It provides a category drop down or a simple list.
The Places to Eat is simply a random list with a picture or two and some words.
The idea is to support Bentham businesses and at the same time provide a resource for our visitors.
For food and drink you should check with the establishment and probably book ahead.
This sort of stuff is usually available from our tourist information point, However the decision has been made not to open our Tourist point this season.
If you have a Bentham business providing accommodation or food and drink and wish to be included in our Tourism information,
Please get in touch via the Town Clerk,  email townclerk (at) benthamtowncouncill.co.uk  and we can go from there.

Bentham Town Council has published a Community Emergency Plan.
it will identify procedures to be adopted in the event of a major incident in Bentham.
What is needed in any emergency situation is knowledge of the locality and local people.
Emergency plans work best when they make use of existing organisations and local knowledge.
